Advances of the Mayan Train Station in Cancun were presented

ICA, the company in charge of building the Mayan Train station in Cancun, presented in a morning conference the progress of Section 4 that will run from Izamal, Yucatan, to the North Zone of Quintana Roo.

The private company shared the figures of its project, which includes a completed track platform of 230 kilometers, 195 kilometers of ballast on railway track and 195 kilometers of assembled rail, all double track and electrified.

ICA also reported that they have manufactured 800,000 sleepers at their plant in Umán, Yucatán, of which 450,000 have already been placed, which is equivalent to a total of 270 kilometers.

In addition, the company has worked on a 160-kilometre four-lane highway, of which 2.2 million square meters of pavement have already been laid in the area.

Regarding the complementary works of Section 4, ICA completed 32 vehicular crossings and 580 hectares were preserved without environmental impact.

They also completed 70 cattle crossings, two total junctions and 12 wildlife crossings, as well as 31 drainage works built.

The Mayan Train station in Cancun marks the end of Section 4 and the beginning of Section 5, and is expected to have a modern and functional design.

In the morning conference, ICA shared a video with the progress of the station, while the ‘renders’ of the whereabouts in the community of Leona Vicario, in Puerto Morelos, were also presented. This municipality, the youngest in the state of Quintana Roo, will have one of the Mayan Train stations.
