As part of the PROMESA program, the opening or renovation of a museum in Chichén Itzá parallel to the Mayan Train was announced.

Currently, as a result of the Mayan Train project, more than 800 objects from the area will be exhibited, some exhibited for the first time or reintegrated into the place.

Archeology experts maintain that the first inhabitants arrived at Chichén Itzá around the year 550 AD.

The iconic El Castillo pyramid, dating from between 1050 and 1300, is one of the most iconic constructions in the area.

The architecture of Chichén Itzá reflects the technological, astronomical and mathematical progress of the Mayan civilization, which increases its historical and cultural relevance.

Once the construction of the Mayan Train is completed, the route will cover 1,554 kilometers, with a total of 34 stations, approaching seven airports and 26 archaeological sites.

A total of 42 trains will travel through the tracks, crossing the regions of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
