Virtual Reality Training for Mayan Train Drivers
Drivers prepare in Europe: Virtual reality training for Mayan Train drivers
The Alstom company, responsible for supplying the trains for the Mayan Train, has developed an innovative training tool that seeks to train convoy drivers in virtual reality (VR) cabins.
This technology will allow drivers to know in detail the operation of the trains and the route they are going to travel, as well as teach them how to act in emergency situations.
In an interview with the director of Alstom Mexico, Maite Ramos Gómez, it was explained that the simulator is based on 2D and 3D software so that the training sessions are as realistic as possible.
“Our objective is to contribute to the training of the Mayan Train drivers. To do this, we will have driving simulators that will allow them to acquire, consolidate and develop driving skills involved in the operation”, explained Ramos Gómez.
The Virtual Reality Training Simulator for Mayan Train Drivers is an exact replica of the Mayan Train’s train cabin, which will allow drivers to immerse themselves in a real driving situation.

During the training, the drivers will be in communication with the instructor through radios, screens, buttons and emergency systems, which will allow them to receive constant guidance during the tours.
The training program will be divided into three scenarios: training, evaluation and test. This will allow each driver to receive personalized training, according to his skill level and experience.
In addition, drivers will be able to deal with different types of emergencies, including environmental scenarios and breakdowns that could occur on the train. They will also learn about rail safety procedures, signaling, and routes.
Virtual reality training for Mayan Train drivers is a priority for the Government of Mexico and the Alstom company.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has indicated that the train drivers who will operate the Mayan Train are being trained in Europe, with the aim of being ready before the inauguration.
However, the Alstom company has taken the training a step further, using virtual reality technology that will allow drivers to acquire driving skills in a safe and controlled environment.
The investment in virtual reality technology for virtual reality training for Mayan Train drivers is a reflection of the Government of Mexico’s commitment to the development of the railway sector and tourism in the Yucatan Peninsula region.
The Mayan Train is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the country’s history, and is expected to have a significant impact on economic growth and tourism in the region.
The project has been the subject of controversy and criticism from some groups, who question the feasibility of the project and its impact on the environment and local communities.
However, the Government of Mexico has defended the project, arguing that the Mayan Train will be a source of economic and social development for the region.
In any case, the Virtual Reality Training for the drivers of the Mayan Train is a fundamental part of the project, since it will guarantee the safety of the passengers.
