Within the framework of the Tianguis Turístico 2023, Carlos Slim Domit, president of the Board of Directors of Grupo Carso, pointed out that the Mayan Train and Trans-Isthmic Corridor will have a positive impact on the Mexican economy and will attract investments from the United States and Canada to the south-east of the country.

Slim Domit highlighted that, due to the pandemic and the situation in Ukraine, the North American Free Trade Agreement (T-MEC) has become more relevant, and has accelerated the nearshoring process.

On the other hand, the expansion plans of the Hyatt and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts hotel chains in Mexico for the coming years were also presented at the Tianguis Turístico.

Hyatt will build the first hotels of its ultra-luxury Park Hyatt brand in Mexico, which will be inaugurated between 2024 and 2025. In addition, the hotel chain will open a new brand in Quintana Roo, called Hyatt Vivid, focused on the “adults only” segment. to meet the growing demand of millennials.

For its part, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts plans to open six hotels this year in Mexico, including destinations such as Cabo San Lucas, Ciudad Reynosa, Mazatlán and San Luis Potosí, which will mean the addition of more than 1,100 rooms to its portfolio.
