Entrepreneurs for Quintana Roo announced the call for a meeting of the Americas Alliance in Cancun, scheduled for October of this year, in which the participation of at least 400 business leaders is expected.

The objective of this meeting is to explore and specify possibilities for importing and exporting goods from the south of the state, using both the Chetumal industrial zone and the cargo transportation capacity of the Mayan Train.

Sergio León, leader of the group and representative of the Americas Alliance in Quintana Roo, affirmed that the implementation of the Mayan Train will significantly increase the capacity to move merchandise, turning both Cancun and the south of the state into strategic export centers.

León highlighted that the Cancun airport could benefit from the flow of cargo transported by rail from other states of the peninsula, both for the export of goods and for the import of affordable products from Asian nations.

The representative pointed out that last February, along with other businessmen from Quintana Roo, he attended the meeting of the Americas Alliance in Hong Kong.

In this event, delegates from 60 countries participated and more than 800 business meetings were held, in order to share information on bilateral trade opportunities, focusing mainly on the Asian continent.

The businessman explained that there is a growing interest on the part of Asian companies in acquiring food products produced in Quintana Roo, such as vegetables, as well as other natural resources such as marble and various construction materials.

León emphasized the relevance of the infrastructure available in Quintana Roo, both in the south and in the north of the state.

Although the region does not have this type of natural resources, it can function as an export center from other Mexican states, both to the south, through the border with Belize, and to the north, through the Cancun International Airport.

Holding the Americas Alliance event in Cancun, scheduled for October, seeks to strengthen Quintana Roo’s position as a strategic center for international trade, taking advantage of the cargo transportation capacity of the Mayan Train and the Chetumal industrial zone.

With the participation of at least 400 business leaders, opportunities to import and export goods from the south of the state will be explored and finalized.

In addition, the Cancun airport would benefit from the flow of cargo transported by rail from other states of the peninsula, both for the export of goods and for the import of affordable products from Asian nations.

This event seeks to boost global trade and improve the local economy through the use of the infrastructure available in the region.
