20,000 T of porphyrite stone unloaded in Puerto Morelos

The Mayan Train is an emblematic work of the Federal government, which seeks to promote the economic and tourist development of the southeast of the country, and for which the importation of construction materials has been required, for this reason 20,000 tons of porphyrite stone unloaded in Puerto Morelos.

The Melody ship arrived at the port of Puerto Morelos more than a month ago, but due to weather conditions it had not been possible to unload the porphyrite stone that will be used as ballast on the Mayan Train tracks.

However, finally this Saturday the unloading of the 20,000 tons of stone from Cuba began, in an operation that takes place in the middle of the Easter holiday season, even so, the work continues at “maximum steam” to inaugurate the project on the agreed date.

The transfer of the porphyrite stone from the Melody ship to the Puerto Morelos tax dock was carried out by means of a special barge, and from there the material was loaded into dump trucks to be transported to the Ruta de los Cenotes, in the heart of the tourist area of Puerto Morelos. .

Despite the presence of tourists who are touring the area by bicycle or walking, the workers have indicated that the transfer of the material will be carried out 24 hours a day until completing the 20,000 tons that were received in this first shipment.
