The Mayan Train will promote not only progress in the southeast, but will also “elevate the cultural and historical heritage that the Mayan civilization has bequeathed to us,” said the governor of Chiapas, Rutilio Escandón Cadenas.

In his participation together with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in a meeting to review the progress in the construction of section 1 Palenque-Escárcega of the Mayan Train, he stated that “we are fully committed to this project so that it is an extraordinary experience for visitors who enjoy Chiapas and its natural and cultural abundance“.

The official stressed that the project implies global advantages for the entity, the Southeast region and for the entire country, for which the government of Chiapas “is contributing to the successful consolidation of this project in terms of social, economic, commercial and tourist development For this reason, investments are being made in airport and road infrastructure, the Sembrando Vida program has been strengthened, and training in the tourism sector is being promoted.”

Escandón Cadenas, from Palenque, reported that, although the inauguration is scheduled for December, the benefits are already materializing, reinforcing support for the agricultural sector, productive sectors, health, education and housing initiatives, as well as job creation.

Among those attending the meeting with López Obrador were, among others, the Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval González; the General Director of the National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism, Javier May Rodríguez; the Undersecretary of Expenditures of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, Juan Pablo de Botton Falcón; the General Director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, Diego Prieto Hernández, as well as business investors of the Mayan Train.
