This section of the Mayan Train concludes 200 kilometers of electrified double track that covers nine municipalities and 17 towns on the route from Izamal, Yucatán, to Cancún, Quintana Roo.
200 kilometers of electrified double track are completed in section 4 of the Mayan Train, according to Javier May Rodríguez, general director of the National Fund for Tourism Promotion.
There will be three stations in Chichén Itzá, Valladolid and Cancún Airport, and two stops, Nuevo Xcán and Leona Vicario.
The construction of 125 pedestrian, vehicular, and wildlife crossings, as well as 23 transversal drainage works have generated 62,000 jobs so far. The rail supply is at 100% and the manufacture of sleepers and ballast is progressing at a good pace.

The Mayan Train route will cross beautiful natural landscapes, including the islands of Holbox and Isla Mujeres, as well as Las Coloradas.
In addition, the Secretary of National Defense is collaborating in the construction of the Hotel Tren Maya Chichén Itzá in Yucatán, located two kilometers from the archaeological zone of the same name.
The hotel is located outside the protected zone of archaeological monuments and will generate direct and indirect jobs, which will increase the economic spillover in the region.
The General Directorate of Engineers of the Sedena is also working on the development of the facilities of the Tren Maya company in Cancun, Quintana Roo, which will serve as a logistics point for the administration of the mobility project.
In addition, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jorge Nuño Lara, announced that a connection will be built between the Mayan Train and the Cancun Airport through electric minibuses, thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and favoring 14,400 passengers. per day.
Regarding the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Strategic Projects in Cancun, several important works are being carried out, including Chac Mool Avenue and the Nichupté Vehicular Bridge, Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard and the Interchange in Cancun.
These toll-free roads will benefit more than 1.3 million inhabitants of the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Solidaridad, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres in Quintana Roo.
They will also facilitate access to more than 20 million national and foreign tourists to the Cancun area. These works generated 10,000 direct jobs and 41,000 indirect jobs.
The total investment for the development of section 4 of the Mayan Train is 8,806 million pesos, which will cover 26.3 kilometers in length and three structures.
It is expected to come into operation in stages between October and March 2024. During the customary press conference, the general director of ICA companies, Guadalupe Phillips Margain, and the director of Alstom Mexico, Maite Ramos Gómez, also participated.
