President Andrés Manuel López Obrador premiered the second episode of the documentary series on the Mayan Train, a production that covers two important cities in Quintana Roo: Cancún and Bacalar.
This documentary, directed by journalist and producer Epigmenio Ibarra, seeks to show the cultural and economic impact of this work in southeastern Mexico.
The second chapter, titled “Caribbean Sea, the door to the world”, was broadcast on September 5, 2024 and is available at the end of this same note.
This second episode highlights the natural and cultural beauty of Quintana Roo, while detailing the progress of the construction of the Mayan Train.
President López Obrador has used this production to highlight the importance of the project and recognize the dedication of the thousands of workers who have made its progress possible.

Recognition for the workers of the Mayan Train
In his message, President López Obrador recognized the work and commitment of the construction workers of the Maya Train, who, according to him, are heirs to the greatness of Mexico.
“It is one more testimony to the creativity, responsibility and selflessness of the construction workers, heirs to the greatness of deep Mexico. Because of them, among other factors, we are proudly a world power,” said the president.
The importance of the Maya Train lies both in its infrastructure and in the social and cultural impact it will generate.
The documentary seeks to capture these aspects, highlighting the collective effort that has allowed the advancement of this monumental work.
Epigmenio Ibarra’s production has managed to capture both the technical part and the soul of this project, showing the physical progress, while enhancing the pride and sense of belonging of those who participate in its development.

The third and final chapter of this documentary series will premiere on September 12, 2024 at 9:00 p.m., and will close with a tour that will cover from Bacalar, Quintana Roo, to Palenque, Chiapas.
This episode promises an even deeper exploration of the region’s cultural legacy, and will include a segment on the history of Guatemala and its link to Mayan culture.
With this documentary series, the López Obrador government seeks to report on the progress of the Mayan Train and highlight the positive impact it will have on local communities and the preservation of cultural heritage.
