Construction of the Mexico-Pachuca “Maya Train” Begins
- Construction of the Mexico-Pachuca Maya Train begins, with key stops and important collaboration between SEDENA and SICT for the project.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has given the green light to one of the projects that promise to surpass the Mayan Train: the creation of a passenger train that will connect Mexico City with Pachuca.
This railway project aims to improve public transport between the capital and the state of Hidalgo, linking strategic communities and promoting economic development in the region.
During a recent public event, Sheinbaum stressed the importance of this train as part of her commitment to modernize transport in the country.
She recalled that her predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, recovered the infrastructure of passenger trains, such as the Mayan Train and the Interoceanic Train, both considered key projects for the nation.
Along these lines, Sheinbaum plans to extend this legacy with the new Mexico-Pachuca train, which will depart from the Buenavista station in Mexico City and will have stops at key points, such as Temascalapa.
Collaboration between SEDENA and SICT
To carry out this important project, Sheinbaum has highlighted the collaboration between several government institutions.
The first of these agreements has been established between the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) and the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA).
The latter will be responsible for the construction of the train thanks to the vast experience of military engineers in large-scale works, such as airports and hospitals throughout the country.
Sheinbaum stressed that these engineers have been a crucial part of the most important developments in the country and this work will not be the exception.
In addition, another agreement was signed between the SICT and the Secretariat of the Environment to ensure that the necessary environmental impact studies are carried out before starting the full construction of the train.
These studies will ensure that the work respects local ecosystems and promotes sustainable development in the region.

Expansion of the Railway System
The Mexico-Pachuca train is just the beginning of a series of projects that Sheinbaum has planned for her administration.
During her speech, the president assured that her goal is to expand passenger train networks throughout the country.
This expansion includes the construction of new lines that will connect Mexico City with the north of the country, passing through important cities such as Querétaro and eventually reaching Nuevo Laredo.

With the launch of this railway project, Claudia Sheinbaum reaffirms her commitment to the progress and development of Mexico.
The Mexico-Pachuca train will connect millions of people and boost the economy of the regions through which it will pass, providing opportunities for growth, employment and modernization in public transportation.
This project stands as an example of the future that Sheinbaum wants to build for Mexico, where infrastructure and sustainability go hand in hand.
