Next week will mark an important achievement with the complete inauguration of the Mayan Train circuit, as announced by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador during his sixth government report.
This monumental work, which crosses five states, has been one of the most emblematic projects of his administration, with a total investment of 515 billion pesos from public resources, without resorting to debt.
The Legacy of the Mayan Train and its Impact on the Region
President López Obrador enthusiastically highlighted that the complete circuit of the Maya Train will be ready for its inauguration in the coming days.
This train will cover a total of 1,554 kilometers, of which 690 kilometers will be double-track electrified.

The project represents a transportation infrastructure, which also works as an engine of economic and cultural development for the southeastern region of Mexico.
The work included the construction of 35 stations distributed in five states, generating a total of 660,508 jobs throughout its development. In addition, 43 trains were acquired, which together add up to 219 cars.
At the same time, significant conservation work has been carried out in 30 Mayan archaeological sites, underlining the government’s commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage.

Invitation to Discover the Beauty of the Mexican Southeast
The president extended an invitation to all citizens to visit the southeastern region of Mexico, describing it as one of the most beautiful in the world.
He stressed that there is no other region on the planet with an artistic and cultural wealth comparable to the ancient Mayan civilization, now accessible through the Mayan Train circuit.
In addition, the president highlighted other key infrastructure projects, such as the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, which includes passenger and freight trains, along with the construction of ten industrial parks.
He also mentioned the completion of the two new air terminals: the Felipe Ángeles International Airport in the Valley of Mexico and the Ignacio Carrillo Puerto Airport in Tulum, Quintana Roo.

Continuity and Future of Railway Projects
In his speech, López Obrador stressed the importance of continuing with railway projects in the next six-year term, mentioning in particular the completion of the “El Insurgente” train, which will connect Toluca with Mexico City.
With this, he referred to the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who will continue with the transformation and development of the railway infrastructure in the country.
This new stage in the connectivity and development of the Mexican southeast seeks to improve mobility and promote tourism, as well as preserve culture and boost the regional economy.
