Tarjeta Bienestar Tren Maya

The Bienestar Card is Now Valid for Purchasing Tickets for the Mayan Train.

The Mayan Train now allows beneficiaries of federal government social programs to use their Bienestar Cards to purchase tickets directly at the station ticket offices.

This initiative facilitates access to rail service for millions of people, especially seniors, who are part of the beneficiary registry of the Bienestar Pension and other programs.

The Bienestar Bank confirmed that this payment method is now available at the Maya Train’s 34 operating stations, spread across five states in southeastern Mexico.

However, this payment method is limited exclusively to in-person purchases at the ticket office and is not available on digital platforms or the rail system’s website.

Validity of the card confirmed at Mayan Train stations

After reports circulated that the Mayan Train did not accept this card as a form of payment, the railway project’s own administration denied the information.

Through its official X account, it was clarified that it is possible to use the Well-being Card to purchase tickets at any station along the route.

The message disseminated by the Maya Train reinforces its commitment to facilitating mobility for all sectors of the population, especially those who receive government support.

The measure also responds to the need to offer accessible payment methods for those who do not have conventional bank cards or do not make online purchases.

In-person purchase: the only option with this card

Currently, the use of the Bienestar Card is restricted to physical ticket offices only.

Therefore, those interested must go directly to any of the Mayan Train stations to purchase their tickets, as this payment method cannot be used on the website or through the available digital applications.

For beneficiaries, this system represents a convenient and safe way to enjoy the rail service, without the need for intermediaries or complicated digital processes.

The goal is to ensure that every senior citizen, person with a disability, or member of another social assistance program can travel easily throughout the southeast of the country.

Financial inclusion and mobility on the same route

This progress is aligned with the Mexican government’s inclusion policies, allowing beneficiaries of the Bienestar Card to more actively integrate into the public services network, such as the Mayan Train.

Thus, the railroad serves a tourism and economic development function, as well as social integration and mobility for all.

With this measure, the Mayan Train strengthens its role as a means of transport that connects territories, people, and opportunities, bringing more Mexicans closer to cultural, natural, and heritage destinations in the southeast, without financial resources being a barrier to making this possible.
