In its first phase, el Mayan Train Will Mobilize 880 Daily Travelers at its Inauguration to be operating at 100% in February 2024.

The Mayan Train project, which is preparing for its inauguration this December 15, has the objective of transporting up to 880 passengers each day in its initial phase.

General Óscar David Lozano Águila, head of the project, shared the details of this exciting stage that marks an advance in Mexican transportation infrastructure.

Train Testing and Operation Process: Efficiency and Precision

Of the six trains already delivered in Cancun, four have satisfactorily completed static and dynamic tests. The remaining two trains will join operations once these essential tests are completed, thus ensuring the efficiency and safety of the service.

Since last December 1, tickets have been available to the public, with rates ranging from 1,166 pesos for tourist class to 1,862 pesos for premier class.

Although the specific amenities of each class have not yet been detailed, a differentiated and attractive travel experience is anticipated for all users.

Local Employment and Training: A Boost to the Region

The Mayan Train is not only a work of infrastructure, but also a driver of regional employment.

With a focus on recruiting graduates from higher education institutions in southeastern Mexico, especially in fields such as engineering, finance, administration and economics, the project reinforces its commitment to local development.

Initially, 720 employees will be part of the team in the Campeche-Cancún stage, with plans to expand the workforce to more than 2,400 workers when the project reaches full operation.

Towards Total Operation: A Promising Future

Although information on the progress of sections 5, 6 and 7, located mainly in Quintana Roo, is limited at this time, it is expected that by February 2024, all seven sections of the Mayan Train will be operational.

Furthermore, for that date, the delivery of 46 trains in various categories is expected, allowing the Mayan Train to reach its full capacity and offer a comprehensive service throughout its 1,500 kilometers of extension.
