The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stressed that the Mayan Train represents the essence of the Mexican nation, built with local investments without depending on international concessions, marking a change in relation to previous neoliberal policies.
The president emphasized that his administration will be managed by a firm affiliated with the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena), which will also guarantee the integrity of passengers with the support of the National Guard.

The Mayan Train is not just an infrastructure, it is a monumental engineering work that stands out globally for its completion time, avant-garde techniques, respect for the ecosystem, and appreciation of the Mexican cultural legacy.
The elevated infrastructures stand out, such as bridges and viaducts, designed by specialized companies and the Sedena to preserve natural treasures such as cenotes and caves. The national leader expressed his gratitude for the popular support for the Mayan Train, whose premiere is scheduled for the end of the year.

Regarding its progressive construction, Ricardo Vallejo Suárez, from the Sedena General Directorate of Engineers, explained that three crucial segments – 5 north, 6 and 7 – add up to 30% progress.
These stretches, which cover regions between Cancún and Escárcega, combine an amalgamation of electrified roads, stations, bridges and specialized passages for wildlife. In addition, these segments have created approximately 40,000 direct jobs.
Meanwhile, the Felipe Carrillo Puerto airport in Tulum is advancing by leaps and bounds. This project, which currently employs more than 6,000 professionals, is just over half of its execution and promises to serve millions of travelers upon completion.
Preserving the country’s rich history is paramount. In collaboration with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) under the supervision of Diego Prieto Hernández, measures are being carried out to protect and value key archaeological sites on the train sections.
To date, a vast number of invaluable structures and artifacts have been identified and protected.
Within the tourist field, the Hotel Tren Maya in Tulum stands out, which, although it is in the initial stages of construction, promises to be an ecological oasis, with thousands of trees planted in its surroundings.
On the other hand, Calakmul will see the emergence of an exclusive complex with a unique path built by expert artisans from Oaxaca.
This project reinforces the country’s vision towards an integration between sustainable development, cultural respect and progressive innovation, writing a new chapter in Mexican history.
