Before his departure from Fonatur, May emphasizes that the start of operations of the Mayan Train is scheduled for December.

Accommodation for visitors is a priority. For this reason, six luxurious hotels are being built under the Mayan Train brand.
These accommodations will be located in strategic places such as Palenque (Chiapas), Chichén Itzá and Uxmal (Yucatán), Edzná and Calakmul (Campeche) and Tulum (Quintana Roo). Equipped with first-class features, such as suites, gym, recreational areas and event spaces, these hotels will extend over almost 50 hectares.
The Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) is in charge of this monumental construction task, with an estimated budget of approximately 6 billion pesos, distributed equally among these six complexes.
It is interesting to note that Sedena has also worked on the construction of a hotel near the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, which already operates under the Holiday Inn AIFA franchise and has been categorized with four stars.

In line with Sedena’s plans, the Nuevo Uxmal hotel in Yucatán will be the first to open its doors. Located on a 6.25 hectare plot of land, it will not only offer luxury rooms, but also recreation and retail areas, and a direct connection to the train station in Calkiní.
For its part, the hotel in Palenque, Chiapas, will be located in a similar area, with a projected cost of 966 million pesos. Just 1.6 km from the archaeological epicenter of Palenque, it is located in a strategic position for lovers of Mayan culture.
However, the complex in Tulum, Quintana Roo, promises to be the grandest. Expanding on 13.5 hectares and just 3 km from the beach, it will be a paradise for tourists.
Javier May expressed that “The Tren Maya hotels will not only complement the train trip, but will provide unparalleled experiences due to their proximity to archaeological sites.”
Together with the innovative Mayan Train proposal, the introduction of these hotels guarantees that travelers will enjoy a complete experience, combining the best of transportation, history and luxury.
