AMLO indicated that the section of the Mayan Train almost ready from Palenque to Cancun
In his most recent visit to southeastern Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President of Mexico, stated that the laying of rails on the approximately 900 kilometers that make up the route between Palenque and Cancún of the Mayan Train is in an advanced process of completion.
He also highlighted that between Mérida and Cancún, the line will have double electrification.
The president reaffirmed his commitment to carry out, in less than two weeks, an inspection on one of the trains that are part of the project, recalling that on September 1 he made a similar journey between Campeche and Mérida.
López Obrador emphasized the significant advances in this project that integrates five key entities in the Mexican southeast: Chiapas, Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Campeche and Tabasco. He also reaffirmed his vision of inaugurating the work in its entirety in December 2023.

No less important, during this same weekend, the national leader visited the state of Quintana Roo to evaluate the progress in the construction of the Tulum Airport.
It is worth mentioning that this infrastructure will be under the administration and operation of the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) and, like the Mayan Train, its inauguration is projected for the end of this year.
From the central government, it is emphasized that the essence behind the Mayan Train is not only to promote tourism and revitalize the economy of the southeastern region, but also to guarantee an equitable distribution of its dividends.

The intention is that tourism development does not coexist with impoverished areas, but can truly contribute to the general well-being of the area.
The commitment to the Mayan Train and the new Tulum Airport are clear examples of the government’s efforts to balance economic and social development.
The Mexican southeast, a region rich in culture, biodiversity and tourism potential, deserves infrastructure that enhances its value without neglecting the well-being of its inhabitants.
It is clear that the government’s commitment, under AMLO’s leadership, goes beyond simply erecting monumental works; seeks to positively transform the socioeconomic landscape of the southeast.
