In response to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Beryl in the Mexican Caribbean, the government company Mayan Train has implemented a rigorous security protocol.

With the objective of safeguarding both operations and railway infrastructure, an Emergency Monitoring and Operations Center has been established in Mérida, Yucatán.

This monitoring center will allow trained personnel to be deployed throughout the entire Mayan Train network.

The main mission is to guarantee the safety of railway operations and maintain constant surveillance on the state of the infrastructure.

The company has also announced that it will inform users about possible changes in services starting this Thursday, depending on the intensity and effects caused by the meteorological phenomenon in the Yucatan Peninsula.

According to the state government, the first effects of Hurricane Beryl are expected to begin to be felt today in the State of Quintana Roo, and that this July 4 it will make landfall with category 2 on the coasts of the Mexican Caribbean.

Preventive actions in Quintana Roo

In the early hours of July 3, the governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, updated the alert status to yellow, indicating a moderate danger.

Authorities have urged citizens to take preventive measures, such as identifying the nearest temporary shelter, storing important documents in plastic bags, and storing food and drinking water.

Coordination with the tourism sector

The Quintana Roo Tourism Secretariat has reported that it will continue meeting with sector actors to adjust operations as Hurricane Beryl advances.

This coordination is vital to minimize disruptions to tourism and ensure the safety of all visitors and residents.

Security measures of the Mayan Train

The Mayan Train has deployed its specialized personnel throughout the railway network to supervise the operations and integrity of the infrastructure.
